Thank you very much for thinking of me. I was just recently "fired" from Guideposts, so enjoy me while you can. A new editor came in and took over Andrew Attaway's position and I got the boot. It was a good run, seventeen years, but not writing for them will be a hole in my life. I've spent so many years viewing the world from story glasses--maybe I should write my own devotional book? Anyway, these things happen in the publishing world all the time. And I'll see what other writing projects take shape.

I love Camano Island and was just over there the first of January to a wedding reception. Are you on the east or west half? I nearly bought a cabin on the east shore many years ago. I think I probably should have done it!

There is another David T. Denny trunk extent that is held by his GreatGreatGreatGranddaughter in the Seattle Area. It is black metal with some gold leaf leather trim and his name clearly marked on the outside. From the years 1929 to 1985 the trunk resided in David Denny’s Granddaughters house, holding copies of “Blazing the Way”

It really is hard to do any kind of honest business when people know how to work the system so well. I think they aren't tired. I'll bet they enjoy the game of getting away with it, and feel as if they've won something Forget about the real victims. They are "rich" and therefore, not worthy of their sympathy. As someone who has been taken in by a con artist and saw their acts in court, I really feel for you here and hope this time, they don't get away with it.

Nicely told, Brenda, a real piece of work--um, you writing and Kezia. You'd think she'd change her name; is it fame she seeks? Ha. How can she file restraining orders on the woman who lives upstairs from her, in her (the single mom's) own house?!

I recently had a "situation" at Zach's house--luckily, getting the cops involved was magically circumvented (actually, just timing). He (the squatter) wasn't as conniving or smart as it seems that this crazy ass woman, who you nicely show as yes, another confused human, but still human in the end of your writing.
Kudos, but hope you get to write about something fun next~

Dearest Brenda, I am so very, very sorry that you and your son were forced to endure this pair's horrendous criminal behavior. I am sure it has shaken both of you to your cores. Why do bad things happen to great people Please give me a call; I would love to chat with with you.

We have a "caretaker" next door who has really been harassing us. I had to call the sheriff several times due to his threats of violence and attempt at assaulting my husband. Lately, he has been sending anonymous letters and throwing weird mementos over the fence. He is so delusional and paranoid that he has attached old tarps on the chain link fence. I am filing an anti-harassment order.

I do not write so eloquently as you do and I so enjoy your posts. Never a dull moment, huh?

I'm hoping the attorney, who feels strongly about his client's victimization, can help in some way. He's engaged with the case, unlike Blake's attorney who only exacerbated the issue through apathy and no preparation--quick enough, though, to collect her fee.

I'd like to add that fasting is a spiritual practice. I'm fasting during lunch every day... The hunger I feel makes me stop, think, and pray for those who are hungry and those who will go hungry if these budget cuts are passed. It is a time of prayer... I pray that Congress will show some compassion and cut the money from the billions we spend on weapons of defense or tell corporations to pay their taxes instead... and do I believe fasting and praying will make a difference? Yes, I do.

Thanks for the comment, Alice! It helps because 1) it's followed through with phone calls to our representatives, letting them know our views and vote;
2) it provides the nearly 30 organizations that have joined with the numbers to present to the congressional debates. It's easy to sign a petition but harder to fast as sign of commitment to the cause.
3) it reinforces in your own mind the suffering of 40 million people who are hungry or who are not hungry because they're on food stamps and can't help but create awareness of people less fortunate and how seriously the cutbacks will hurt them.

Mostly, it's about calling representatives and telling them we've joined the solidarity for the hungry and that we've got our eye on them for next election.

What I don't understand is how your fasting is going to change the government? It won't put food in the mouths of those who are struggling? I am not trying to be callous or mean....I do understand that budget cuts are happening in areas where they should not be and that how we pay our taxes is not fair but I still don't get how your (or many others) fasting will change anything?
